		<description>Hi Catherine. My name is John. I do not have anything to do with this website but I do live in Japan and have been doing so for over 10 years now. The above post is pretty much spot on. The Japanese are a tricky bunch when you first come over. They will bend over backwards to help you out. But you will soon come to discover that it is more out cultural obligation then being overtly friendly or kind. Japan is extremely image conscious. This goes for its people and the country as a whole. 
So they always want to put on a good face regardless if their heart is behind their actions. 
Being a foreign female living in Japan is a completely different ball game. I have heard things from my American female friends that I have never personally experienced in all of my years in Japan.
But overall you don&#039;t have anything to worry about. Just try to remember that what people say and do may not really be what they think and feel.</description>
